Visual Instructions

Quick Mask technique in photoshop
1. Make an initial selection with the lasso tool

2. Click the quick mask button

3. With colors set to black and white, use a slightly feathered brush to paint with transparency or opacity

while working with hard masks, I recommend keyboard shortcuts for zooming in and out as wellas adjusting brush size on the fly:

4. click the quick mask button again to return to a now more refined selection. Now you copy and paste into a new document with a transparent background. Using Save for Web, Save as png-8 format for transparency heading to flash or paste into your 900 pixel wide x 350 pixel tall psd canvas and create teh banner for your Learing Journal.

Creating the FACE movie clip:

Insert three keyframes and place your three faces on them.

place a stop(); action on the first frame

Create an instance of the face movie clip on the main timeline (drag it from the library) and give it an instance name of face in the properties panel.

right click the movie clip and choose actions to open the actions panel - it needs to indicate that the actions will go on the movie clip. Add the following code:

Figure out what this code is doing - how would you put limits so the face can never disappear from the 900 x 700 pixel stage? How would you make it go faster?
